Managing Large Databases of Complex Medical Knowledge Using Conceptual Graphs

چکیده
A number of groups around the world are independently working on natural language interfaces (some multilingual) to sources of information such as progress notes, patient discharge summaries, radiology reports, digestive surgery discharge summaries, bone scintigraphy, slit lamp examination of the eye, and echocardiography. Each of these groups is using Conceptual Graphs as their universal medical language. They are using the metathesaurus from Uniied Medical Language System (UMLS) and the Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine (SNOMED) as a foundation for a conceptual catalog, enforcing consistency of use with conceptual graph theory. conceptual graphs is a kind of knowledge representation language. conceptual graphs can be mapped to relational data models, or onto other formal systems such as rst-order predicate calculus. The conceptual graphs language has been chosen by an ANSI committee as an interlingua for conceptual schema languages used in relational databases. An equivalent language has also been chosen by a standards group for knowledge interchange. The international conceptual graph community is actively collaborating in the Peirce project: the construction of a public domain, industrial strength conceptual graphs workbench. The Peirce conceptual graphs workbench currently ooers a complex object database and general query language. It will soon ooer an expert system shell; general programming language; general machine learning mechanisms; a graphical user interface; tools for automatic generation of natural language from conceptual graphs ; conceptual catalogs, speciically supporting medical knowledge bases. This paper surveys some of the medical applications using Conceptual Graphs, brieey examines Conceptual Graphs and proposes the Peirce Conceptual Graphs workbench as a general tool for supporting medical information modeling.

Methodology of conceptual review in the health system
Background: Conceptual review is a creative research method for generating new knowledge in the context of a vague and complex concept that helps to explain and clarify the concept, its components and its relation to related concepts. This study aimed to explain the methodology of conceptual review in the health system. Methods: Articles related to the conceptual research method were searched ...

It is obvious that in our country, a large part of capital and budget of projects is spent for training and experience of managers who is responsible for managing and guiding the projects, while the experience may be archived in chest or shelves of managers and other executives. In most of projects, there are using trial and error methods in using of experiences and knowledge, as a result large...
متن کاملThe project ARIANE: conceptual queries to information databases.
As information databases we consider all the collections of data records indexed by key-words, stored and delivered by computer systems. In previous research works we demonstrated the interest to design a conceptual model, in the conceptual graphs formalism, and to implement a computational model for information retrieval in large information databases. These models are based on the UMLS knowle...
متن کاملTowards Building Active Knowledge Systems With Conceptual Graphs
This paper outlines a vision for using conceptual graphs to build active knowledge systems that have the capability to solve practical and complex problems. A key ingredient in an active knowledge system is its ability to interact (not just interface) with the real world. Basic features of such systems go beyond logic to include support for data mining, intelligent agents, temporal actors, acti...
